Transgender individuals face multiple healthcare disparities including a lack of qualified providers for pelvic floor health. There are a variety of unique issues that transgender individuals face with both hormonal care and gender-affirming surgery. Pelvic floor physios need to be well versed in these issues as well as the treatment options that will help these individuals deal with issues with bowel, bladder, and sexual health. This course will detail gender-affirming surgeries and the pelvic pain and bowel and bladder health issues experienced after surgery.

Learning objectives

After the webinar, participants will be able to

1) identify the common pelvic floor issues that are experienced by an individual undergoing hormone treatments; and

2) create a pelvic floor physiotherapy treatment plan for an individual undergoing gender affirming surgery.
