Research network
We announced our plan to develop a research network at the POGP AGM on 3 November 2023.
A short exploratory meeting was held via Microsoft Teams on 31 January 2024. This gathered ideas from some of the POGP members currently active in research about what such a network might look like. It’s planned to be a member-run cooperative, and as such, is something that will evolve over time to fit the needs of those who take part in it.
The main wish expressed by those attending was that the network should create opportunities for pelvic health physiotherapists to collaborate with and mentor one another while developing their research.
Initial ideas included:
- an online space where members can ask questions and share information, and since POGP has a Microsoft Office account, we’re planning an initial trial with Teams; and
- an interactive map of the UK on the POGP research web page where members will be able to share their location and their research interests.
- We hope that these will help to facilitate collaboration and mentoring opportunities for pelvic health physiotherapists conducting research across the UK.
- We plan to run meetings throughout the year that will feature useful presentations about subjects such as:
- grant application techniques;
- public involvement in patient research; and
- when research goes wrong – “If I only knew then what I know now!”
We hope that these meetings will also be a chance for members to practise their presentations and get feedback from their peers. A research networking day is also on the agenda.
If you’re interested in being involved or finding out more, then please e-mail us.
You’ll be sent a very short questionnaire that will let us know if you’re happy to be added to Teams, or if you just want to be kept informed about future events. We’re looking forward to meeting all the amazing POGP researchers out there!
